5 Surprise Midfield Signings for Manchester United

5 Surprise Midfield Signings for Manchester United

It is imperative that Manchester United have to invest in the midfield in order to challenge for a title next season. Amid links to midfielders such as Toni Kroos, Sergej Milinkovic Savic, and Fred, what are some of the other options Manchester United have? Here’s five midfielders that would surprise Manchester United fans, but aid us in our title quest next season.

5. Julian Draxler

Age 24
Club PSG
Contract Ends 2021
Height 6’ 2”

Draxler has featured in an ultimately disappointing PSG side this season, playing alongside the likes of Verratti, Mbappe and Neymar, yet failing to win the big prizes the club set out to win. With Neymar and possibly Verratti likely to force a move, Draxler may also be looking to find a way out of the French club this season. Capable of playing on the wing or in midfield, Draxler would be perfect for Manchester United. He’s a top class player who can score, create and add flair to our attack. Draxler will also be 25 in September, the perfect age for our squad. In addition, PSG will have to pay 180 million euros to AS Monaco in order to keep Kylian Mbappe, and they will certainly look to get any money they can to avoid breaking FFP rules. If Manchester United act fast enough, they could sign him for a reasonable price. While we have been tentatively linked to him in the past, this is a player Manchester United could very well sign this season

4. Lucas Torreira

Age 22
Club Sampdoria
Contract Ends 2022
Height 5’ 6”

This young Uruguayan midfielder has done exceptionally well for Sampdoria in Serie A this season. A center-defensive midfielder who is similar to Michael Carrick, Torreira excels at transitioning the ball quickly from back to front, using his incredible passing range and astute reading of the game to transition the ball into the final third. Torreira would be an ideal addition to our midfield, as he could rotate with Matic or play in a midfield three with Pogba, giving him license to go forward while also contributing offensively with playmaking from deep. However, he is only 22, and with Mourinho growing impatient with the likes of Rashford and Martial, there is no evidence he will sign such a young player. He’s also contracted until 2022, which would make him fairly expensive for such a young player. But Torreira will almost certainly be snapped up by a bigger club this season, and there is no reason Manchester United shouldn’t be at the front of that cue.

3.Adrien Rabiot

Age 23
Club PSG
Contract Ends 2019
Height 6’ 3”

A talented but somewhat inconsistent midfielder, Frenchman Adrien Rabiot has had a mixed season for PSG. Standing at 6 foot 3, his physicality combined with his technical ability make him a uniquely talented player. His passing, creativity and physicality are all things that Manchester United could benefit from if he were to sign. His contract is up in a years time, so he could be signed for a cheap price in Manchester United act fast enough. As previously mentioned, PSG will be looking to offload players to balance their massive spending of the last few season. While he has struggled for consistency and would be a risk, Rabiot is a player who under the right guidance, could be a great signing for the Red Devils.

2.Max Meyer

Age 22
Club FC Schalke 04
Contract Ends 2018
Height 5’ 8”

FC Schalke have had a terrific season in the Bundesliga, finishing second to Bayern Munich and ahead of Borussia Dortmund. At the heart of this campaign has been Max Meyer. He’s creative, skillful and above all, has played for a team that plays similar to Manchester United in some aspects. Schalke defend deep and do not rely on pressing, and try to counter attack often. With a similar defending style at United, Meyer could quite easily adapt to Mourinho’s system and help the team become better on the break. His contract ends this summer, meaning any club could sign him for free. He has been heavily linked to Liverpool, but Manchester United should not sleep on this hot German prospect.

1.James Rodriguez

Age 26
Club FC Bayern Munich (Loan from Real Madrid)
Contract Ends 2019 (Loan)
Height 5’ 11”

James Rodriguez would be an unbelievable midfield signing for various reasons. He’s a huge brand worldwide, and would be the perfect player to acquire the number 10 shirt. He’s also a player who doesn’t need much development, and could come straight into the team and make an impact. He’s a leader, not the same kind of leader as Roy Keane, but someone who has passion and leads by example. But above all that, his attributes as a player make him one of the best midfielders in the world. He can play in a midfield two, a midfield three or as an attacking midfielder. His passing range, decision making, vision, skill and crossing make him one of the most complete midfielders in Europe. Additionally, Rodriguez’s dead-ball delivery is exceptional, and with the amount of height we have in our team, he could unlock a whole new dimension to Manchester United’s attack. While he is still on loan at Bayern, the club are still unsure whether to keep him or not. And if Manchester United act quickly, we could have a player that could have a tremendous impact on our title challenge next season.

Raiola Holds Up Sanchez to Manchester United Deal

Mino Raiola, Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s agent, is now reportedly the biggest factor in the Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United deal. So who is Mino Raiola and how has he become more powerful than Manchester United in this deal?

Alex Ferguson was never a fan of super agent Mino Raiola and blamed him for the loss of Paul Pogba to Juventus, but in recent years Manchester United have been more than happy to feed Raiola’s ego in return for the likes of Pogba, Zlatan, Mkhitaryan and Lukaku.

In the case of Mkhitaryan, it now looks like Raiola could be come the obstacle Sir Alex always said he was….

Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United is a deal that’s been limping on all week and the latest suggestion is that Mino Raiola is the man holding it up. Sanchez and United agreed their part of the deal last weekend, with full details of his wage and signing on fee leaked on Wednesday. However, a deal cannot be achieved until Manchester United and Arsenal agree on the fee, and with Arsenal wanting a player, Mkhitaryan, instead of cash, this is where Raiola comes in and wields his power.

So much power that it’s now being suggested by those close to the deal that it’s up to Raiola if Mkhitaryan goes to Arsenal or not. If Raiola decides it’s good for his client, it will happen. If he doesn’t like the deal it won’t. What that means for Sanchez and United remains to be seen. But it’s another example of the power agents now hold in football and it doesn’t take much guesswork to predict that the biggest factor in whether this deal will go ahead or not will be money.

With Mkhitaryan and Raiola guaranteed to make more money from this deal than they would if he stayed at United on his current contract, or returned to Dortmund who don’t have the financial pull of Arsenal, it’s pretty certain Mkhitaryan will move to Arsenal. But not until Raiola is happy that the slice of the pie he and his client get are to his liking and size.

Man United Willing to Pay £40M for Tottenham’s Danny Rose

Man United want 40 Million Danny Rose

Manchester United are still finding the rhythm in overtaking Man City in the Premier League. In order to do this, it’s reported that Jose Mourinho is eyeing Tottenham’s Danny Rose.

Reports have it that the possible transfer deal is worth £40 million, making this one of the biggest transfers this year.

Rose has already been eyed by Man United for some time. However, the possibility of the transfer moving forward were bleak, until now. Rumors about his interest in a move to the Reds have been swirling around the media for months. However, he decided to make it official as he stated in an interview that he would welcome any opportunity to move to another team if it means having higher chances of winning more trophies. And now, Manchester United is seeing this interest as an opportunity for them to increase their chances of getting a Premier League title.

Unfortunately, things don’t seem to be in sync when looking at the Spurs’ inner circle. Daniel Levy, Tottenham’s chief, says that he wouldn’t let any transfers push through, especially
when it comes to selling their most cherished possessions free. He says that this would just strengthen their rival teams, and he wouldn’t let it happen.

However, it’s not just Man United wishing to get Rose to play for their team. Along with the Reds, Juventus, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain are also hoping to attract the 27-year-
old. But out of the four clubs, the one who’s most aggressive is Manchester United. One source says that Jose Mourinho likes the playing style of Rose. It’s even said that the United coach is
expecting to have him early next year because of his natural fondness with the footballer.

And even though the relationship between Tottenham and Man United aren’t the best, it still boils down to money at the end of the day. This means that if the price is right for both clubs, then there are no reasons to doubt that the transfer won’t happen.

So, what’s up with the Spurs? Well, it’s safe to say that Pochettino’s decisions are still a big factor in the transfer. In his statement, he says that Rose isn’t in perfect shape as he just
recovered from a 10-month- long rehabilitation due to an injury. Though this is based on facts, one can easily say that this might be one of Pochettino’s tactics so that the other teams would look elsewhere. But if ever Danny Rose makes his way to Man United, then this would also mean Luke Shaw going to Tottenham.

Surprisingly, the Red Devils are more than willing to let this happen. And what’s even more surprising is that they’re prepared to pay a hefty sum of money just to get Rose to the team.
How much? £40 million!

And is it worth it? Well, it seems like it is. With a passing success percentage of 88.9% and an overall rating of 6.44, one can see that Rose’s statistics is way above average. The Englishman
is also pretty good when it comes to aerial duels, dribbling, and tackling. Plus, he’s a gifted defender. All of these traits are complementary to what Man United needs. And now that they’re trailing Manchester City’s strong 1/8 odds, it makes sense for them to double their efforts.

One way of doing that is by getting Rose to the team as soon as possible. The Red Devils are currently seated at the Premier League’s second spot with 14/1 odds to spare. But Chelsea and Tottenham are nearing them with 18/1 and 20/1 odds. To avoid them being stepped over by other teams, they need a legit defender/midfielder. Who is it? It might be Danny Rose.

So, when this transfer happens, it’ll then be highly recommended for you to bet on Man Unitedgames from the top UK betting sites. Why? It’s because their chances of title-contention are stronger than ever. That is if the transfer does happen, of course.

Ross Barkley Perfect For Manchester United

Ross Barkley would be perfect for Manchester United. Not the words you’ll here from the majority of Manchester United fans, but listen carefully and more and more fans are starting to think Barkley could be exactly what United need.

Barkley is one of those players that seems to have been around forever. But at only 23 years of age that’s another string to Barkley’s bow that could benefit a club like United who have been caught woefully short of midfielders this last few weeks. Plenty of Premier League experience, creative, fast, strong, Barkley ticks many boxes in the search for a midfielder who can come to Old Trafford and offer some much needed squad depth and exuberance. He’s also played with Lukaku and has an understanding of what Lukaku likes in relation to crossing and through balls.

Add in to the above that Barkley’s a free agent in May and the question has to be why aren’t Mourinho and United all over this deal? Tottenham and Chelsea are both very keen so it’s not like Barkley isn’t admired by other big clubs.

The issue lies in Barkley’s inconsistency and a question mark over whether he has the scope to improve. There’s no question that on his day Barkley can be the shining light on the pitch, the issue is there’s been too many games for Everton where that light has gone missing. Mourinho was an admirer of Barkley from his Chelsea days but as with Renato Sanches we’ve already seen that Mourinho’s admiration for a player can come full circle in less than twelve months if he sees traits he doesn’t like. But with Pochettino interested, it’s fair to say that Barkley with the right management can take that next step and become one of the league’s best performing attacking midfielders.

The question is will Manchester United put their hat in the ring for Barkley? Personally I think they should. Especially with all the rumours that United don’t actually have that much money to spend. A player of Barkley’s potential for free is a no brainer.

Mourinho Won’t Leave Manchester United

Jose Mourinho isn’t leaving Manchester United any time soon.

Second in the league and comfortably top of their Champions League group after four games, not to mention Europa League and League Cup champions, Mourinho has no need to let his mind wander from anything other than making Manchester United the best side in Europe again. Yes, there’s been disappointments in October but the cold hard truth is Mourinho is achieving and progressing as Manchester United manager.

As for reported PSG interest. Of course PSG are interested in the biggest name in football management! But to believe that Mourinho is about to down tools and walk out a quitter from the biggest club in the world would be ridiculously naive. Let’s remember what week it is for a start. International week in November, football’s equivalent of watching repeats of Holby City. International breaks aren’t the most riveting at the best of times but the November break really does take the biscuit as the worst of the lot. Most international sides have qualified or been knocked out of the World cup so it’s essentially the most boring two weeks of the football season. Which means media outlets need to get creative to generate views, income and interest.

What better way to do that than to focus on the biggest club in the land, Manchester United, and a bit of controversy, Mourinho wants to leave. Because that’s what we’re facing, media outlets spinning a yarn to generate interest in their sourceless bile. Because Mourinho isn’t going anywhere unless Manchester United force him out. And why would they? He’s progressed the club fantastically well over the last 12 months and in the face of a Pep Guardiola Manchester City, who have unlimited resources, Mourinho has positioned United as the number one rival to City. Which for a club that’s finished outside the top four three times in the last four years shouldn’t be taken for granted.

Of course it’s not going to be easy for Mourinho to take on Pep and beat him, but those who think Jose will walk away from that battle clearly haven’t done their research on a man whose spent his life battling against the odds.

Manchester United’s future is in safe hands under Mourinho. He’s going nowhere.

Southampton vs Manchester United LINEUP Revealed

Manchester United face a trip to Southampton this weekend, where three points would almost ensure they go in to the international break at least joint top with Crystal Palace to come to Old Trafford next weekend.

Southampton have found goals hard to come by this season but at the other end they’ve got one of the meanest defences in the league. Should United be weary of this particular trip down south or is it simply a case of if the Manchester United of the last few weeks turn up three points are given?

Antoine Griezmann or Alexis Sanchez to Manchester United? Who would United fans prefer to be Man Utd’s next number 7 and which is more likely?

Mourinho to Rest Star Player against Stoke?

Has Jose Mourinho already given a big hint about his team selection for Stoke City at the weekend?

Stoke are well known for their physicality and United fans have spent the international break discussing whether the side that has done so well so far this season is the right one to go and get three points at Stoke? Specifically are Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan the right sort of players for a battle at Stoke?

With that in mind many United fans feel this is the ideal game to go with a three in midfield. Matic and Pogba are sure starters and paired with either Ander Herrera or Marouane Fellaini, United’s midfield suddenly looks far stronger and able to deal with anything Stoke want to throw at them. Couple this preference with Jose Mourinho’s comments about Mkhitaryan needing to prove himself against the top sides despite his great start to the season and is Mkhitaryan likely to be the fall guy at Stoke?

Whether it’s Mata or Mkhitaryan that drops out it only goes to prove the current strength in depth Mourinho possesses at United. Rashford and Martial vying for one spot on the left and with a midfield three Jose would have Mkhitaryan, Mata and Lingard competing for the spot on the right.

However United approach this game and whatever lineup Mourinho goes for, United will be strong favourites and if they come away with three points on Saturday evening there won’t be many United fans complaining about the formation or who started. It’s a long season ahead and Jose will be fully prepared to utilise his whole squad.

De Gea Still Seeking Manchester United Exit?

David De Gea to Real Madrid rumours are like wasps round a can of coke, irritating and normally confined to the summer months.

However, international breaks can be like mini summer holidays for players and if rumours are to be believed David De Gea is enjoying the company of his fellow Spanish internationals so much that’s he’s been bending the ear of Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos with the purpose of obtaining a dream move to Real Madrid.

Now, I must first quantify that the only outlet currently running this story is the Daily Star – who to put it kindly, aren’t the greatest source of information when it comes to transfer news. So do Manchester United fans have cause for concern?

I think not. For one, the season has only just begun, the transfer window is shut, and having come off the hectic summer months news outlets are looking for stories to pull in readers. Will De Gea leave next summer? Who knows? I personally thought he’d go this summer and he’s still here, and it’s got to that stage now where I see every year he stays as a bonus. Only yesterday De Gea was waxing lyrical about how much he loves playing for Manchester United, and with his Spanish teammates like Herrera and Mata at United there’s no reason not to believe him. Maybe he does want a move back home at some stage, and if he does should we really begrudge him one?

For now De Gea is here and we should enjoy having the world’s best keeper between the Old Trafford sticks. Who knows, he could be here another ten years yet?

Mourinho’s Big Romelu Lukaku Problem

Jose Mourinho is facing a potential problem with Romelu Lukaku that could undermine Manchester United’s season.

Despite an amazing start to the season by Lukaku the question Mourinho must answer is how do United cope without Lukaku? Injury is one potential issue but a more sensible scenario is what Mourinho does when Lukaku needs a rest? With seven games coming up in 22 days, encompassing Premier League, Champions Leauge and League cup, it would be unwise to think Lukaku will play in all of those ties. Otherwise injury really will be a factor. But how does Mourinho replace the enigma that is Lukaku?

Rashford and Martial are the obvious choices but with both young talents providing such threat and consistency down the flanks will Mourinho want to mess with a winning formula? In addition, neither Rashford or Martial are Lukaku. Both offer the pace and directness but neither come close in the power stakes. Lukaku is a bully that occupies centre backs and forces them back. Taking that out of the side diminishes the space the likes of Pogba and Mkhitaryan are thriving on at the moment thanks to Lukaku.

So how does Mourinho solve the Lukaku dilemma? In the long term Zlatan provides the power, in the short term United will have to find another way.
