United midfielder Ander Herrera believes fellow Spaniard and United ‘keeper David de Gea is happy with life at Manchester United.
Ander Herrera has described David de Gea as the number one goalkeeper in the world saying:
“He is the number one keeper in the world. In England you know that but in the rest of the world they think they have better keepers, but I don’t think so. When we win titles or trophies I think he will be more recognised.
“He has a special talent. When you are born with that quality and ability, you are so lucky. The rest of the humans, we have to work more. You have to work harder.
“But what I like about him is that he is very calm, he has his feet on the ground. He doesn’t change when it comes to these kind of games so I think he is number one of Spain and in the world and he is my friend so I am very happy for him.
“I think he is very happy in Manchester United. You can see that. If you are not happy in one place you cannot play like that, so it’s easy to say that.
“We can be calm and optimistic, first because he is in a fantastic club and if we start winning trophies, it’s easier to keep world class players.”
De Gea’s most recent display of heroics was in the FA Cup semi-final against Everton when he saved Romelu Lukaku’s penalty.
It is also understood that Real Madrid will reattempt to sign the United ‘keeper after failing to do so last summer.
David de Gea has gone from being the new skinny kid, making several errors at the beginning of his United career to being arguably the worlds best goalkeeper.
He has become a real fan favourite and has earned fan chants such as:
“He’s big, he’s brave, he’s Spanish Dave. He makes great saves, he never shaves. He’s flying through the air, come and have a shot if you dare.”
It’s clear to see that de Gea loves United, you only have to watch his reaction to Anthony Martial’s late winner in the FA Cup semi final (watch below).
That is not the reaction of someone who is not happy at United. Watching that video fills me with hope that he will remain at United beyond this season. But that could depend on what happens with the managerial situation.
UPDATE: According to Spanish journalist, Guillem Ballague, Manchester United have tabled a £15.3m for Saul Niguez but the player has no desire to leave Madrid and the club are not willing to sell. Source: Telegraph
It is understood that Manchester United have sent officials to Spain to begin negotiations for the transfer of Saul Niguez.
Saul has been identified as a long term replacement for Michael Carrick and could be brought to Old Trafford for £15million.
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone promoted Saul Niguez to the first team this season and has played a big part in the teams success so far this season.
The midfielder has been capped for the Spanish under-21’s and has scored 5 times in 35 appearances for his club.
But with great talent comes great interest and United are to face competition from Arsenal and Liverpool for the star’s signature.

David de Gea thanks Louis van Gaal and fans for helping him settle back into the team after the Real Madrid transfer fiasco.
The Manchester United goalkeeper recently signed a new contract keeping him at the club until 2019. And although there is reportedly a release clause in the contract, he says that he is enjoying life at Old Trafford and is happy playing for “one of the biggest clubs in the world”.
David de Gea also sheds light on his relationship with United boss Louis van Gaal. He claims that despite the transfer saga, the pair have a normal relationship and describes the Dutchman as a joker.
Talking about his return to playing, he reiterated his appreciation to the fans by saying the reception he received “made the hairs stand up”.

I think I speak for the majority of United fans when I say I am pleased that he stayed and at the way he handled the whole situation throughout the summer.
Lets hope we enjoy many more years of David de Gea between the sticks.
