Manchester United have joined Bayern Munich in a race to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
Koulibaly, 24, has played a vital part in Napoli’s fantastic season where they currently sit within three points of Serie A leaders Juventus. Napoli also boast the second best defensive record in the league.
The Napoli defender signed for the Italian club from Genk in 2014 and is currently in talks to extend his contract. Napoli want to secure the player for the long term before big clubs try to sign him. His agent had this to say:
There’s no hurry, but Napoli want to keep him for the long-term, and settle things before the massive clubs come in.
We’ve spoken calmly, but the president will decide if he wants to offer a renewal. We have contact with everyone, but he’s not for sale.
French wonderkid Ousmane Dembele, 18, was scouted by five Premier League clubs on Sunday during Rennes’ match with Lyon. The clubs present included Manchester United, Arsenal, West Ham, Southampton and Stoke City.
Dembele is being labelled as the best talent to emerge from France in years. He has scored 9 goals this season and set up Rennes’ first goal on Sunday.
Ousmane Dembele was also watched by Spanish giants, Barcelona and German champions Bayern Munich, both of which are considered front runners to sign the youngster.
France coach Didier Deschamps has said that Dembele can play across the pitch in all attacking positions and can use both of his feet.

Arjen Robben has fallen out with team mate Robert Lewandowski after comments made by the striker.
Arjen Robben has recently returned from a torn stomach muscle injury and has taken no time to get back to his best after scoring twice in Holland’s 3-2 victory over Wales.
However, the Bayern Munich winger has not reacted positively to comments made by team mate Robert Lewandowski. The Polish goal machine has said that Robben is too greedy with the ball and instead prefers to play alongside Douglas Costa and Kingsley Coman.
The spat between the pair has alerted Manchester United who are looking to add a winger to the squad in January. United already have Memphis, Lingard and Januzaj (currently on loan at Borussia Dortmund) but the boss wants proven talent and Robben believes he can still play at the highest level for at least another 2-3 years.
Arjen Robben was close to joining Manchester United back in 2004 after receiving a tour of the club, but United refused to meet PSV’s asking price so Robben ended up signing for Chelsea.
How do you feel about the possibility of Robben joining United? It has also been reported many times that United are interested in Lewandowski. Which of the two would you prefer? Discuss below in the comment section or visit our fan forum and join the discussion here.
