‘Frustrated’ Meunier Could Move to United

Thomas Meunier has been growing more and more frustrated with each passing week as he’s been starved of game time at Paris Saint-Germain.

Meunier joined PSG from Club Brugge in July 16 for €7mil and played 36 games, missed six matches through injury and 15 as unused sub/not included in his first season. So far this season, Thomas has played seven games in all competition and been an unused sub/not selected in nine matches.

The lack of playing time is due to the summer signing of Dani Alves and the PSG Manager, Unai Emry favours the Brazilian Right Back. As a result Meunier is becoming increasingly frustrated and had this to say in an interview with French Newspaper L’Equipe after being asked if he was frustrated with the lack of playing time:

“Yes (I am frustrated), because I want to play every match, whether it’s against Gueugnon, Niort or Bayern Munich,’ the Belgium international admitted earlier this month.”

“I want to be on the pitch every time. I am in a team which is one of the top five in the world where the back-ups and the starters are about the same level.”

Thomas has made big impacts during his time on the pitch, scoring three goals and making two assists in the six games he’s played in Ligue 1 so far this season.

‘Big fan of Manchester United’

Back in February, Meunier name dropped Man Utd and the Premier League as a future destination for the right back.

He told Belgian newspaper DH:

“I’ve always said that one day, I would like to play in the Premier League,”

“On the other side of the Channel, there are the stadiums, the fans, and I’ve never hidden that I’m a big fan of Manchester United, which remains, in my eyes, the real reference in the world of football.”

Should we go for him?

He’s 26 years old, 6’3” tall and is strong on the ball. Not as fast as Valencia, however he is composed on the ball and can pick out a pass and score goals. United need a younger right back to rotate with Valencia initially, and then eventually take the position for his own. He’ll be available for around £30mil, but who knows what price that will be in today’s market?
