Unhappy Sanches to ‘Stay One More Season’

Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeneß has this morning said Renato Sanches will stay one more year and the club are willing to help him through it.

Renato Sanches has not enjoyed the best of seasons this year at Bayern Munich, and reports this summer suggest he’s open to a move away from Allianz Arena. Obviously the President of his current club declaring he’s staying put for one more year puts cold water on any potential move this summer for the player.

Sanches had a promising start for the German Champions starting 4 times in the first 6 matches. However, the playing time quickly diminished for the young Portuguese playing less than 2 matches worth of minutes in the next 20 Bundesliga matches.

Throughout the whole of last season Sanches played the full 90 minutes twice in all competitions. Due to his lack of playing time, goals and assists the youngsters season got demoted from the Portuguese senior squad to make his debut in the U21’s; coming off the bench in the U21’s European Championships 2-0 win over Serbia U21’s.
Personal Word Document

It’s fair to say it is probably not the season Renato Sanches had in mind after his £30mil move to Bayern Munich last season. So it’s understandable why the player is willing to leave the Allianz Arena behind him.

Despite all the rumours, Calciomercato.com reported Bayern Munich Uli Hoeneß had this to say on their young starlet:

“He’s going to stay here for one more season”

The Bayern President continued. “We’re here to help him and he never played one game without pressure last season”.

So it looks likely that there’ll be no move for Sanches this summer. Which give us the chance and time to re-focus our energy on other potential targets for the remainder of the summer transfer window. There are also rumours that Renato’s attitude has been questionable at times, which could explain the lack of playing time at Bayern which ultimately resulted in playing for Portugal’s U21 team.

Will Mourinho, a long term admirer of the player, still try and tempt the player to push through a move this summer? It is World Cup year after all! I hope he comes to Man Utd, but I don’t think it will happen now.

Who should we go for instead? Have your say in the comments below!
