Manchester United are reportedly interested in capturing the services of Atletico Madrid’s 22-year old Argentinian striker Luciano Vietto, who is out-of-favour at the Los Rojiblancos.
Vietto is a relatively new figure at the Vicente Calderon, after only signing for the Madrid-based club last summer from Villareal for £15.5 million. However, the youngster found it difficult to break into the starting line-up and couldn’t replicate the tremendous form which he showed in the yellow of Villareal.
His lack of game time under Diego Simeone meant he only scored a meagre 3 goals in 12 appearances throughout the campaign.
The tricky striker, whose close control and dribbling are frightening to defenders, is set to move from the Spanish capital in the summer after Atletico bolstered their attacking options through the signature of Nicolas Gaitan, and United are reported to be keen on securing him as their second major summer signing.
“We will see where I play after the summer break is over.”
And talkSPORT.com are claiming that United are fighting for his signature with a number of Premier League clubs, especially Arsenal.
What will Vietto bring to United?
The Argentinian youngster, whose preferred foot is right, will bring attacking flair to United, as he has been attributed to making cunning runs in-behind defenders, and loves to stay on the shoulder of the last-man.
However, he has an air of unpredictability about his play, as he has brilliant link-up play with his back to goal, meaning he can lay the ball off to on-rushing midfielders, which would be perfect for the likes of Wayne Rooney.
Luciano will also bring a positive attitude to Old Trafford, as Simeone has previously praised his willingness to work hard in training and pointed out the positive effect that his presence has on the pitch.
Additonally, this signing will give United a range of options in attack, and new manager Jose Mourinho will need squad depth to bring more major silverware to the Theatre Of Dreams!
